My research career
Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Valladolid
Angel Martín presented his PhD thesis in 2006 with the title “Precipitation processes with supercritical fluids: mathematical model and experimental validation”. Afterwards, he was postdoctoral researcher at TUDelft, Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Ruhr Universität of Bochum and Ramón y Cajal fellow at the University of Valladolid, and he currently is full professor at the University of Valladolid
Fields of expertise
- Thermodynamics and transport phenomena of high pressure fluids
- Precipitation and formulation of natural compounds with supercritical fluids
- Development of hydrogen storage materials.
- Valorization of captured CO2 by reduction to formic acid, methanol or methane in hydrothermal conditions.
My research
He has directed 12 doctoral theses in collaboration with leading European research groups (TU Hamburg-Harburg, ETH Zurich, University of Bochum, IBET-Oeiras, Pavia, TUDelft…).
He has directed 7 projects with public funding and 13 research contracts with different private companies. His research has received several recognitions, such as the DESAFIO award to the best industry-academia cooperation project of Junta de Castilla y León (2013, 2015 and 2017), the YUZZ award to the best entrepreneurial program, given by Banco Santander (2016), the VIVERO award to the best entrepreneurial program, given by Junta de Castilla y León (2016) and the Model2Market award to the best entrepreneurial program, given by Emprendia Network (2016).
His teaching activity is focused on thermodynamics, transport phenomena and mathematical modelling of chemical processes. He is a member of the editorial board of The Journal of Supercritical Fluids and since 2015 he teaches thermodynamics at the European Summer School in High Pressure Technology.
