Supercritical

fluids

The Supercritical Fluids Area represents the core of the technical and scientific knowledge of the research group. The group has carried out research activity on supercritical fluids, mainly carbon dioxide and supercritical water, since 1994, and is currently one of the most recognized groups in this field worldwide.

The group’s strategy is based on process engineering based on a study of the fundamentals of the processes: physical-chemical properties, thermodynamics, mechanisms, mathematical modeling, to reach a product engineering oriented to specific applications.

The experience accumulated by the group in its three decades of activity in this field covers extraction and fractionation processes, precipitation processes and formulation of materials, reaction processes and products with applications in the food, pharmaceutical, energy or materials industries.
